If you found “Dokan Library 2.0.3.1000 Bundle” in your list of installed apps, this page explains where it came from and what you can do with it.
Why is Dokan Library Bundle on my computer?
Windows lists Dokan as “Dokan Library version Bundle” under Settings › Apps › Installed apps. It is there because a program that creates virtual drives installed it. Air Live Drive is one of them: its Windows installer checks whether Dokan 2 is present and, only if it is missing, installs it silently.
Dokan stays installed when you uninstall Air Live Drive. That is deliberate: other programs on your computer may use the same driver, and removing it would break them.
Is Dokan Library safe? Is it a virus?
Dokan is not a virus. It is an open-source project developed in public on GitHub, with its source code available to anyone, and every official release includes signed drivers. The library and the driver are distributed under the LGPL license.
As with any driver, install it only from a trusted source: the Air Live Drive installer or the official Dokany releases on GitHub.
Does Air Live Drive need Dokan?
On Windows, yes. Air Live Drive uses Dokan 2 to create the cloud drives you see in File Explorer. Without it, the program opens, but it cannot connect any drive.
On Mac, no. Air Live Drive for macOS uses Apple's File Provider extension to show your clouds in Finder, so nothing extra is installed.
If you also see an older Dokan Library 1.x, it belongs to another program: Air Live Drive uses version 2, and both can be installed at the same time.
Can I uninstall Dokan Library?
Yes. Go to Settings › Apps › Installed apps, find Dokan Library Bundle and choose Uninstall.
Before you do, keep in mind that Air Live Drive and any other program that mounts drives will stop working until Dokan is installed again. If you no longer use Air Live Drive or any similar program, you can remove it safely.
“Dokan library not found”: how to fix it
If Air Live Drive shows the message “Dokan library not found, please reinstall AirLiveDrive”, the driver is missing or was removed. To fix it:
- Download Air Live Drive again and run the installer. It installs Dokan automatically when it is missing.
- Restart your computer if Windows asks you to.
- Open Air Live Drive and connect your drive.
If you prefer to install the driver on its own, accept the program's offer to download it, or get the official Dokan 2 installer.
